Featured Project
THE HUNTINGTON AT THE NEWPORT
PMA Architecture partnered with Virginia Health Services (VHS), one of the premier providers of comprehensive adult living communities, to design VHS’s first assisted living facility. The three-story assisted living addition to The Newport Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center, called The Huntington, opened in 2014. The new assisted living wing houses 32 apartments, dining and activity rooms, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the woods of Mariner’s Museum Park in Newport News.
Over the course of many years, PMA has completed a number of additional projects for VHS including the design of The Arbors at Port Warwick, a senior living facility which houses nearly 100 apartments, and the design of a 16-room addition to the James River Convalescent Center, a 189-bed skilled care facility.
In addition to The Huntington assisted living addition, other
improvements designed for The Newport by PMA include:
- 15-Room Rehabilitation Wing with Sitting & Dining Areas
- Rehabilitation/Gym Room
- Nursing Station Renovation
- Dayroom
- Interior Renovation to Dining Room
